We've all been there, we want to make some changes to our room(s), but really are not sure where to start. We fear the high cost of an interior decorator, so attempt to do it ourselves opposed to hiring a professional, who has studied the art of decorating. For some of us, that works out really well and we walk away pleased with our results. For the rest of us, we wish that we would have spent the time and money in hiring a decorator. Some people are naturally gifted in the art of decorating, others need some guidance.

For the later part of that group, I can help you!

Some of the most common questions I hear are:

Q: "How much do you charge for your services?"
Michelle's Answer: I'm so glad you asked!
1. An hourly rate of $35 per hour, with a minimum of 2 hours

Q: "What if I need help shopping for accessories, curtains, etc?"
Michelle's Answer: That is where the $35* per hour rate comes in. I will joyfully shop WITH you for any of your decorating needs. Whether you only need me to help you find curtains for one window, or decor
items for an entire house. I feel like this actually can save you money! This way we BOTH get to see the options This way you are able
to better visualze the items in your home, opposed to a small swatch of fabric. While shopping, you may see an item you like, but I will be there with you to help you decide if it will work
in your room.

Q: " Can you explain what you mean by "re-decorating?"
Michelle's Answer: I do my best to use your current furnishings, opposed to purchasing new furnishings. Sometimes, just rearranging furniture can make a world of difference. Sometimes removing pieces are the
best solution, and in some cases, homeowners have decor right in their homes but are placed in other rooms that work well in the room which they are wanting help with. There are many times that updating furnishings with paint or faux can quickly update your rooms. I have a very creative side and always look for inexpensive/moderate, yet beautiful solutions using what you already have. This does not mean that I won't suggest new decor, just that I try my best to use what you currently own. Every client has a different budget or suggested range of costs per room. That budget, your goals for your room and my knowlege and creativity will determine how high or low we spend per room.

Q: "What if I just want to come by your studio and have you help me pic out a color for my room?"
Michelle's Answer:I hear this quite often! I will be happy to help you, and in most cases this will only cost you a one hour rate! Of course I would ask you to bring all of your color samples including fabrics, paint colors (I have Sherwin William and ICI paint decks), etc.

Q: "What if I need to hire someone to install flooring, or new countertops, will you oversee that project?"
Michelle's Answer: I will only oversee painting or faux finishing installs. As you probably know, we own and operate Lansdale Painting and Faux For You Studio therefore if we are hired to do the job, there will be no extra cost to you for me overseeing the job, however if another painter or artist is hired, through me, then there will be a decorator's cost to you as well. I can refer contractors of other trades to you (carpentry, flooring, countertops, etc), however at this time will not oversee other trades.

I have to say as a close, that decorating is my hearts desire. Even when I was a very young girl, I was creating floor plans for my room ( I just didn't know that there was a name for what I was doing!). I would sketch my bedroom, search and search for photos of furnishings and colors in magazines and catalogs. I recently did follow through on a Home Decorating course and have completed the course. I not only will receive my diploma any day now, but am also am awaiting my certificate with the Certified Interior Decorators, Inc., which also should arrive any day now!
